According to research from the National Accident Helpline:
- The chance of sustaining an injury in the home is highest in the kitchen (60 per cent), second highest in the garden (33 per cent) and third highest in the living room (31 per cent)
- The household object with the highest chance of causing injury are kitchen knives (49 per cent)
- Women are at a higher risk of injuring themselves in the home (41 per cent) than men (25 per cent)
- The top clumsiest city in the UK is Sheffield, with 92 per cent of residents having sustained multiple injuries at home in the last year. Cardiff is a close second (91 per cent) and Norwich takes third spot (82 per cent).
