Treatment for ED can depend on what has caused it. Some men may benefit from trying out changes to their lifestyle before exploring pharmacological or other medical solutions.

There are several lifestyle changes that pharmacy teams can suggest to men suffering from ED. These include:

  • Losing weight if overweight
  • Stopping smoking
  • Eating a healthy diet, such as a Mediterranean diet
  • Taking moderate daily exercise
  • Trying to reduce stress and anxiety
  • Avoiding cycling for a while if cycling for more than three hours a week
  • Not drinking more than 14 units of alcohol a week.
