Table 1 gives details of the relative potency of statins. It should be noted that doubling the dose of a statin will lead to a further reduction in LDL-C of a magnitude of six to seven per cent, so while the dose should be titrated to achieve the maximum tolerated dosage, some people may require additional lipid lowering medication alongside their statin to reach their treatment target.
