Superdrug reports 9.2 sales increase during strong Christmas period

Superdrug has reported a strong trading period in the four weeks to Christmas, with total sales up 9.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2022.
Gift sets such as fragrances were particularly popular, with oral care electrical products also performing well over Christmas, said the chain, adding that own brand product sales had risen 10 per cent year-on-year with more customers seeking out affordable alternatives. The cosmetics category grew by 20 per cent and saw 9.1 per cent volume growth.
The company also reported that online app sales had risen 74 per cent compared to December 2022, and that there were 127,000 new loyalty card registrations, taking total membership to 18.1 milion.
