Gina application and usage
Gina comes in a hygienic, pre-loaded applicator designed to deliver the correct dose every time.6
Although uncommon, some women may experience difficulty using the applicator for the first time; it may cause pain or bleeding. If they are using it correctly, advise them to see their GP who may prescribe another local oestrogen treatment, such as a cream, which can be used to improve symptoms before they re-try Gina. Oestrogen creams and Gina cannot be used at the same time.
If problems develop after a period of regular use, the patient may have developed a concurrent vaginal condition, such as thrush or an STI. If it is vaginal thrush, which may be appropriately treated using a pharmacy product, they could treat the infection first. Otherwise, they should be referred to their GP.
