You can tell patients that there is a table in the leaflet that they can use as a reminder.
If they miss a dose, they can use one as soon as is convenient, but they should not use more than 1 vaginal tablet in 1 day. The next vaginal tablet can be used as planned.
Initiation and continuation of treatment should be at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.
You should discuss this with your patients when they purchase Gina.
However, patients should be advised that VA is chronic and progressive and symptoms are likely to return if treatment is stopped. Women can continue to use Gina as long as they wish to, unless they are no longer suitable, which may be for years if appropriate. You should check their continued suitability every 3 months when they return for their next pack.5
Use after a treatment break
Women who have had a treatment break from either using a previous local oestrogen or whilst using Gina will follow a dosage according to the severity of their symptoms. If bothersome symptoms have returned, advise them to start with the initial dose, otherwise follow the maintenance dose.5
