How is the bottle preservative free?
The ABAK® SYSTEM
Traditional eye drops for dry eye use benzalkonium chloride (BAK) as a preservative to keep them sterile after opening. These last for 28 days but may have a toxic effect on the eye surface with prolonged use.
Thea instead uses a patented ABAK bottle, which includes a filtering membrane that keeps a solution sterile for up to 3 months after opening, eliminating the need for potentially toxic preservatives.
