UNDERSTANDING SEXUAL
PLANNING IN MEN WITH EPS

Two international studies have shown that more than 80% of men with EPs typically plan a specific time for sexual intercourse in advance.7,8

70% of men engage in sexual activity within 1 hour of taking a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (PDE5I) for EPs, with 96% having sexual intercourse within 4 hours.5

The most common reasons for planning sexual activity were:6

  • Needing time to take medication
  • Making sure medication has taken effect
  • Convenient time for sexual activity
  • Needing the partner’s agreement
  • Needing time for foreplay

There was no significant difference between groups taking short-acting PDE5Is (i.e. sildenafil) and those taking long-acting PDE5Is (tadalafil) in terms of planning, including how long in advance they planned for sexual activity.7,8
