The patient journey: scenario

Mrs N is 55. Her periods stopped 3 years ago. She has found sex increasingly uncomfortable, and it has affected her sex life and relationship with her husband. She used to be a keen triathlete, but now even sitting on the saddle of her bike is uncomfortable. She doesn’t use any prescription vaginal oestrogen, and wonders if Gina would be appropriate.

What section of the Pharmacy Checklist do you use?

Using the Pharmacy Checklist, it is found that she is suitable, and an initial supply is made. How long would the first pack last?

She returns for a further supply and says that her symptoms have only improved slightly, and she is still finding sex uncomfortable. She has no new symptoms, problems with Gina or changes in health status and hasn’t had a break in treatment. Would you supply another pack?
