Cialis Together (10mg tadalafil) is now available over the counter for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, that is the inability to achieve or maintain a penile erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance in adult men aged 18 years and over.22
It should be taken as needed at least 30 minutes before sexual activity and no more than one tablet should be taken per day. Cialis Together stays effective for up to 36 hours. For Cialis Together to be effective, sexual stimulation is required.
In some cases, patients will require referral to their doctor to confirm their suitability for Cialis Together or for advice or alternative treatment.
How Cialis Together works23-25
Cialis Together contains 10mg tadalafil. Tadalafil belongs to a class of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.
As a PDE5 inhibitor, tadalafil is considered as a first-line treatment for ED by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).26
- Tadalafil is a selective, reversible inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5)
- When sexual stimulation causes the local release of nitric oxide, inhibition of PDE5 by tadalafil produces increased levels of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum (smooth muscle) in the non-erect penis
- This results in smooth muscle relaxation and inflow of blood into the penile tissues, thereby producing an erection
