Pharmacist Support is holding a series of fundraising events this week to mark its 183rd birthday and help it achieve its target of raising £1 million over the next four years.
The charity said its staff and trustees will collectively run, walk and dog-walk 26.2-miles by the time the London marathon starts on Sunday, April 21 “to emphasise the importance of physical activity and nature in promoting mental and physical wellbeing.”
Pharmacist Support has also launched four other initiatives, including a:
- Donations appeal
- TEAMGreen which encourages people to start their own fundraising campaign.
- Legacy Giving, which encourages individuals to leave a gift in their will to support future generations of pharmacists.
- Charity partnerships, which encourages organisations to partner with Pharmacist Support to deliver activities and help it raise awareness of the charity through its networks.
“We have already established successful and mutually beneficial partnerships with organisations across the sector including AAH, Alliance Healthcare, PDA and Teva UK,” said Pharmacist Support chief executive Danielle Hunt (pictured), who highlighted the “ongoing support” of the Pharmacists' Defence Association “whose £1 per member initiative as well as member donations has this year topped £250,000.”
Hunt also said her charity was “delighted” to have partnered with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society who will “support the charity with a range of initiatives and fundraising activity”.
