Pharmacy group adds to portfolio with purchase in Aberdeen

A pharmacy group which owns pharmacies in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Dundee has added to its portfolio by buying a community pharmacy.

Kemnay Pharmacy Ltd, who say they operate “family-owned and run pharmacies that have served their local communities for over 30 years,” purchased Anderson & Spence Pharmacy in Rubislaw, Aberdeen, for an undisclosed price.

Christie and Co, who brokered the deal, said the pharmacy dispenses an average of 8,000 NHS items a month and is managed by an “employed experienced pharmacist who is also an independent prescriber.”

Anderson & Spence Pharmacy had been owned by Fiona Arris since 2008 before she decided to retire. The owner of Kemnay Pharmacy, Kenneth Manson, said Anderson & Spence Pharmacy “was a natural fit” to his company’s “existing portfolio” and insisted he looked “forward to building on the success

of the business.”

Christie & Co’s director-pharmacy Karl Clezy said it was “a quick sale process” because Anderson & Spence Pharmacy “is an attractive pharmacy business in a sought-after area of Aberdeen.”

“The pharmacy has been well looked after by Fiona for a long time, who has invested in the premises and has looked after the staff,” he said.

“We received three notes of interest in the first week of marketing

and the sale completed within a three-month period. The pharmacy is perfect for the new owners as they already own pharmacies in similar types areas to Rubislaw.”
