Pharmaceutical firm Moderna has launched a new campaign – Stay on Track – which encourages individuals, particularly those with a BMI of 40 and above, to check their eligibility for winter vaccines.
The campaign, developed in partnership with Obesity UK, provides preventative steps to help avoid winter illness.
This follows a consumer survey of 3,000 UK adults, commissioned by Moderna and conducted via OnePoll, which revealed:
- Almost a third (32 per cent) of people with underlying health conditions such as respiratory disease, diabetes and morbid obesity don’t know they are eligible for winter vaccines on the NHS
- 55 per cent of people living with obesity are worried about getting Covid or flu in the coming months, yet 40 per cent are either unsure or unaware about what vaccinations they are eligible for
- Fewer than a quarter (24 per cent) of all adults knew people living with obesity are eligible for respiratory vaccines.
