Well Pharmacy has announced the departure of Janice Perkins as the company's superintendent pharmacist after more than 20 years with the business.
Ifti Khan, who himself has worked for Well for 16 years, steps into the superintendent role from today (June 14).
Mr Khan (pictured) has worked in operational management, pharmacist resourcing, services and governance roles, and most recently worked as Ms Perkins' deputy. Outside of his responsibilities at Well, Mr Khan is vice-chair and governance lead for Greater Manchester LPC.
He is also a member of the Pharmacy Provider Board (PPB) and Primary Care Provider Board (PCPB) at Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP).
He commented: “It’s been an honour working as part of Janice’s leadership team for the last 10 years and I am thrilled to step up as the new pharmacy superintendent for Well.
“I am also excited to be joining the executive committee to drive our business forward and represent the views of our pharmacy teams in these important business forums.
"Over the next few years, we have a unique opportunity to build a seamless experience across our digital and community pharmacies to deliver better patient outcomes and continue to take pressure off the NHS – I am confident we have the right plans in place to build the best pharmacy experience in the UK.”
Well CEO Seb Hobbs said: “I cannot thank Janice enough for her commitment, passion and hard work at Well for the last 20 years. Janice’s dedication to community pharmacy is unmatched and everyone at Well will be sad to see her go. We would like to say an enormous thank you and wish her the very best for the future.
“Over the last 18 months, Ifti has played an important role to help protect our colleagues, patients and business in our response to the pandemic. I am delighted we are recognising his hard work and outstanding leadership with this promotion to the role of pharmacy superintendent.
Ms Perkins, who has chaired community pharmacy's Patient Safety Group since its creation 10 years ago, was recently announced as the first chair of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's new Community Pharmacy Expert Advisory Group.
