Communications International Group (CIG) has appointed Michael Wheeldon as a board advisor as it looks to expand its operations into Europe and beyond.
The former European Sales Director at Novartis Consumer Health will work closely with CIG CEO Felim O’Brien and the group’s board to help shape an international expansion plan for its Pharmacy Network platform. The move comes just a few weeks after CIG announced the appointment of former Cegedim Rx Managing Director Simon Driver to support software developments of the same project.
Wheeldon gained significant experience of the European health market as a member of the Novartis Consumer Health European leadership team between 2007 and 2015. From 2017 to 2021 he was engaged as an International Business Consultant to ECRM/RangeMe, an innovative US digital platform and face-to-face discovery business. He helped to establish their first European operation based in The Netherlands.
Announcing the appointment, CIG Chief Executive Felim O’Brien said: “I am delighted to be able to have input from someone of Michael’s stature and expertise. His experience in both the international healthcare sphere and in setting up the European arm of a data-related business from scratch will be invaluable as we extend the reach of our Pharmacy Network beyond the UK.”
Commenting on his role with CIG, Michael Wheeldon said: “Having seen CIG expand and develop over the last twenty-five years to become a market leader in the creation and distribution of pharmacy publications, innovative communications and training, I am excited to have a role in helping them to new growth and to increase their international presence.”
