CPPSG wants your views on patient safety

The Community Pharmacy Patient Safety Group has launched a survey to capture honest opinions on current patient safety incident reporting and learning processes from all members of the pharmacy team.

The anonymous survey, open until 10 May, also seeks to gather insight on barriers to reporting, learning from incidents and thoughts on safety culture.

The CPPSG was set up in 2015 after NHS England and the MHRA issued a Stage Three Directive recommending that all large community pharmacy organisations (as well as NHS Trusts, homecare companies and independent providers) have a named medication safety officer to review medication incidents and oversee safety improvement within their organisation.

Most of MSOs in community pharmacy organisations are the superintendent pharmacist. An individual MSO was also appointed at the National Pharmacy Association to support all pharmacies with fewer than 50 branches, ensuring the whole sector is covered.
