Cancer Research UK is inviting community pharmacy teams to take part in its ‘Talk Cancer for Pharmacy’ live online workshops.
The training is designed to equip all community pharmacy staff with the information and tools they need to raise awareness of cancer among their customers. Workshops focus on building practical and conversational skills to enable supportive conversations with customers about how they can reduce their cancer risk, as well as the importance of early detection and cancer screening.
Workshops can be commissioned for groups of up to 40 staff, with a bursary scheme in place to offer free workshops to eligible groups. Pharmacy teams can check their eligibility and find out more here. Teams can also get in touch with the Talk Cancer team by emailing talkcancer@cancer.org.uk or calling on 020 3469 8111.
Commenting on the workshops, a community pharmacist and ‘Talk Cancer for Pharmacy’ trainee said: “Really fantastic session – so helpful and pitched at a good level. I feel much more confident to discuss cancer and related topics. I think this workshop should be essential for the whole pharmacy team as it’s a great learning tool to help us help our patients.”
