A Labour MP has challenged prime minister Rishi Sunak in Parliament over pharmacy’s continuing funding crisis.
At today’s Prime Minister's Questions (March 8), Steve McCabe, Labour MP for Birmingham, Selly Oak, said Sunak talks fondly about working in his mother’s community pharmacy. “How would he feel if 600 pharmacies close this year because of a vicious NHS contract that takes no account of rising costs and is forcing many into bankruptcy?”
The prime minister responded by praising the “fantastic” work done by community pharmacies and added that the Government is exploring ways in which it can support them to do even more.
