Suicide prevention and community pharmacy teams
Being able to respond in an acute situation when a pharmacy patient or customer displays or discloses signs of being at risk is a key role for the pharmacy team. The Zero Suicide Alliance (ZSA) identifies three steps: See, Say (see box) and Signpost.

Reflection exercise
Do you know whether any of your team members (including your delivery driver/s) have been personally affected by suicide? Think about how you will raise this sensitive subject with your team. If your pharmacy is in England or Wales, anyone who has been affected can be exempted from the Zero Suicide Alliance training.
