Making a reflective account – an example

You could use your conversations with women whose symptoms may be related to the menopause as part of a reflective account for your revalidation submission. Here is an illustration of what an example taken from your practice might look like to show how you have met the selected standards:

"I was aware that menopausal symptoms can have a big effect on women’s lives but after reading the CPD module in Pharmacy Magazine on this topic, its impact became much clearer to me. I used the module to help structure a team briefing and decide on the actions to take.

"Women’s health is an area that is receiving more attention and the RPS has identified it as a key issue for pharmacy teams to tackle. My team found the list of web resources in the module valuable for their own information as well as for patients, and they have helped patients to access them via their phones and shown them on the pharmacy iPad.

"In terms of the GPhC Standards, I have demonstrated good communication skills in my dealing with patients with regards to the menopause, furthered my professionalism by supporting patients and referring them appropriately to their GP, and highlighted my leadership skills through identifying actions my pharmacy team will take and ensuring relevant development of their knowledge and skills in this area."
