Medication has a place for some sufferers with a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor usually the first drug offered. Other pharmacological options are available, such as serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors, pregabalin, beta-blockers, benzodiazepines and antipsychotics but, as is always the case with young people, care needs to be taken to check licensing restrictions plus dosing.
