Talking therapy
Talking therapy is advised as the first treatment for anxiety disorders. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is considered particularly useful as it can help the patient understand the causes of their anxiety and find strategies for coping. Sessions can take place electronically rather than face-to-face. Engaging with talking therapies can feel daunting, so it might be helpful to watch this video from the NHS about the different types.
Self-help
Guided self-help is available with the Reading Well scheme, which offers Books on Prescription through most local libraries including in electronic form. Resources are also available from Overcoming and Moodgym.
