The former English Pharmacy Board member Sultan 'Sid' Dajani has attempted to exert pressure on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society to be more transparent on issues such as its disciplinary procedures, membership numbers and governance structures through an online petition.

The petition on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, which has so far attracted more than 400 signatures and was published on Change.org, calls on the professional leadership body to ensure its internal disciplinary processes are not hindered by inconsistencies, are fair and allow for independent appeals to be heard.

It also urges the RPS to declare the size of its membership across each category and commission and publish an independent review of all the financial transactions relating to the sale of its Lambeth High Street headquarters nearly nine years ago. The RPS announced the £15.4 million sale of the site to Real Estate Resolutions in June 2013 but by April 2015 it had reportedly been sold on to Taylor Wimpey for more than £30 million.

The petition finally calls on the RPS to clearly show its members how it is spending their money, “including but not limited to the aggregate amount of money since 2011 paid to staff upon exiting the organisation.”

The RPS refused to comment on the petition when contacted by Independent Community Pharmacist.
