A pair of former Independent Pharmacy Awards winners have bought their second pharmacy in the Yorkshire town of Bridlington.
Jaya Authunuri and Aswini Gaali, who own West Hill Pharmacy which won last year’s Pharmacy Team of the Year award at the House of Commons, bought Marton Road Pharmacy (pictured) for an undisclosed fee.
Christie and Co who brokered the deal said the business is “a high-volume community pharmacy that dispenses an average of 18,500 items per month and runs a successful Covid vaccination service.”
The pharmacy had been owned by Tapiwa Masamha since March 2017 but Christie and Co said he decided to sell and focus on his other pharmacies in East Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire as well as spend more time with his family.
Authunuri, pictured below with his team at West Hill Pharmacy, said his acquisition of Marton Road Pharmacy had “shored up” his “future position in the town” and insisted he looked forward “to supplying high quality pharmacy services to the townspeople of Bridlington.”
Jon Booth, director-pharmacy at Christie and Co, said: “Standard hours pharmacies with this level of volume remain rare to the market and have their challenges in attracting buyers.
“However, this is a great example of where our local knowledge of operators came to the fore to tie up a deal with a local independent wanting to grow their estate.”
