The Department of Health and Social Care has warned pharmacy teams that Tegretol (carbamazepine) 100mg tablets are out of stock this month.
In a notification, published by Community Pharmacy England, the DHSC said Tegretol 200mg tablets and Tegretol 100mg/5ml liquid are available and “will be able to support increased demand.”
It also said generic carbamazepine 100mg tablets remain available but “are unable to support an increase in demand.”
Meanwhile, the DHSC said Reboxetine (Edronax) 4mg tablets are out of stock from the middle of this month until the end of October, although unlicensed imported stock is available.
According to the DHSC, the pharmaceutical company Target Healthcare has confirmed it can source unlicensed Reboxetine 4mg tablets.
“If local stock holding, imported stock and mutual aid cannot meet anticipated demand until the resupply date, alternative antidepressants with noradrenergic properties should be considered,” DHSC said.
