The Department of Health and Social Care has said Atomoxetine 40mg and 60mg capsules will be out of stock from the end of this month until September.
The DHSC, whose notification was published by Community Pharmacy England, said other strengths and formulations of the medicine are available “but in insufficient quantities to meet increased demand.”
Guanfacine (Intuniv) prolonged release tablets, it said, are still available and unlicensed supplies of atomoxetine 40mg and 60mg capsules can be sourced, although CPE warned “lead times vary.”
Unlicensed imports are available from Alium, BAP Pharma, Qmed Pharma and Target.
Meanwhile, the serious shortage protocols for Clarithromycin 125mg/5ml and 250mg/5ml oral suspensions have been extended until September 29.
Under the SSPs, for every 5ml of Clarithromycin 125mg/5ml oral suspension, 2.5ml of Clarithromycin 250mg/5ml oral suspension must be provided and for every 5ml of Clarithromycin 250mg/5ml oral suspension, one Clarithromycin 250mg tablet must be supplied.
