Celesio UK is donating the money from every carrier bag sold in its LloydsPharmacy stores to Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland, as part of the company’s official partnership with the dementia charities.
The money raised goes to support people living with dementia and their carers; to create a better quality of life for those affected by the condition.
LloydsPharmacy has been committed to donating all the money it receives in carrier bag sales to its chosen charities since the carrier bag levy was introduced, and as of September 2016, it has raised over £45,000.
Leisa O’Brien, health safety and environmental co-ordinator at Celesio UK, said: “We’re delighted that we can put the carrier bag charge toward such a great cause. Our colleagues are really behind the charity partnership and get involved in loads of fundraisers.
"All our LloydsPharmacy plastic bags are environmentally friendly and 100 per cent recyclable. We also offer customers more sustainable bags for life.â€
